I don’t know the history. But they always make me think of the Victorian era, or early Hollywood. Back when people (especially ladies) devoted a whole lot of time to making themselves not just presentable, but as pretty as possible. Of course, vanities have endured and continue to be in the homes of millions. People who are into makeup or who have elaborate morning and nighttime routines need a space dedicated to their arsenal of supplies, and a pretty piece of furniture made just for that sure beats a counter. So let’s give your Sims the same convenience.
1. Add Vanity Function to All Desks Mod
Check Out This CC This awesome mod from Ravasheen will basically give you dozens, if not hundreds, of options for a vanity. How is that possible, you may ask? Well, with a simple tuning override (I won’t pretend to know what that means, but you might) this creator has made it so any desk will have the same function as a vanity! Yes, any desk! That includes both EA and CC. So from the little one that came with Tiny Living to the plain Jane ones that come with the base game and anything in between, will all work just like the vanity itself.
2. Dressing Table “Tania”
Check Out This CC See, now this is the exact type of glamorous dressing table I mean. How could you sit at this and not feel like a Hollywood starlet circa 1945? Maybe you wouldn’t and this is just my thing. Hmm. Your Sims wouldn’t know the difference anyway, I suppose. …but it is pretty glam. This is a classic style, with a built-in mirror spanning the width of the table portion, and drawer accents. Ten of them in total, which would certainly be sufficient storage. Ya know, if they were functional. But in this game, appearance is what matters. So the top actually has several slots for clutter.
3. Antique Dressing Table
Check Out This CC This charming antique style will look great both in vintage builds and modern ones alike. The antique-ness of it is undeniable, but there’s not one bad thing about that in this case. It’s simply a beautiful dressing table that will improve the overall “look” of any room. There are options for both white and brown wood, and the little floral seat is just darling and matches perfectly.
4. Bedroom Vanity
Check Out This CC Here we have a more compact vanity than we have seen so far, fitting for a teen’s bedroom. Or for adult Sims without much space. If your houses are like mine, then no one in your Sim’s family probably has much space to themselves. As such, this vanity is actually great for anybody! It functions as a mirror and has deco slots, so you can load it up with all of the clutter appropriate to your Sim.
5. Nina Chic Dressing Table
Check Out This CC This dresser is for only the fanciest Sims. I mean, you can do what you want… but for goodness sakes, each drawer has a designer label sticker! Versace, Chanel, Dior… they sure make a statement, right? There’s no denying this dressing table is chic, it’s even in the name. But not just because of the stickers. The desk-like design allows plenty of room for your Sim to get down to business when it’s time to get all dolled up. It comes in pale pink and white tones, plus the top is somewhat transparent, which is just pretty cool.
6. Lilit Secretere
Check Out This CC Every vanity has two main parts (if you hadn’t noticed): a mirror, or at least space for one, and space to be seated while you do your thing. Even if this one is not functional, it still fits the bill and will bring that vanity chic-ness to your Sim’s home quite easily. The swatches, including black, white, tan, and brown wood tones, will be pretty easy to match other furniture already in the game as well. Sometimes you don’t care about that sort of thing, or having mis-matched stuff is even the goal. But it’s nice for everything to look as if it came from a set sometimes as well.
7. Glass Sheek Vanity Set
Check Out This CC Honestly, you have to be pretty brave to get a totally glass vanity. You ain’t hiding a thing with glass. Every little spill, smear, and speck of dust will be visible. But there is a certain coolness to glass furniture, so… I guess that’s just the sacrifice you’ll have to make. Besides, in The Sims, only a select few surfaces get filthy. Like kitchen counters. Yeesh, just be glad that green sludge-looking stuff won’t be on this! This CC set just sits pretty, and it includes some other items like a mirror, plant, chair, and make-up brush holder, so your Sim’s primping area can look fully developed.
8. Miranda Vanity Beauty Set
Check Out This CC Now this is one sturdy vanity. It’s similar to a desk, with thick sides and tabletop. But it’s definitely designed in a way that makes the “vanity” part clear, with such sleek lines and metallic accents. At first glance you may think the mirror is wall mounted. But it is indeed attached to the vanity. It’s one of those fancy ones with the light bulb, like you find in dressing rooms on movie sets. I’m not sure if those are still used, actually. I’ve never been in a dressing room. But they look great, and that’s what’s important here!
9. Yuna Bedroom Vanity Table
Check Out This CC While you can technically put any vanity in any room, sometimes furniture is created with a certain space in mind. With this vanity CC, Severinka made it specifically for bedrooms. And I can see why. It’s a wonderful mix of regal and mid-century modern. The mirror has a very elaborate design in either gold or silver, and the vanity itself features a narrow, rectangular surface and slanted legs.
10. Juliette Corner Vanity Table
Check Out This CC Obviously, mirrors are either attached to the vanity, or there simply isn’t one. But the fun thing about this item is that there’s a slot for the mirror. So you yourself will get to decide which one to use! This is also one of the less, well, over the top designs. It has just three drawers and overall it’s a very compact build. In fact, it’s dubbed a “corner vanity table” presumably for that very reason. It’s small enough that it’ll fit nicely into any corner, or just anywhere in your Sim’s home with a bit of free space.
11. IKEA Hemnes Vanity
Check Out This CC Vintage Glamour Stuff was the very pack that introduced functioning vanities to the game. So it makes sense that a lot of the CC tables out there have just tweaked the ones from the pack. This is one such example, turning one of the vanity tables from the pack into a more IKEA-like style. It’s another low-key design, with just two tiny drawers on the desktop and an oval mirror. This CC is perfect for those Sims who need a space to do their makeup and hair, but don’t devote a ton of time to it.
12. Lanei Dressing Table
Check Out This CC Here we have a design that’s different than any of the others we’ve seen so far. On this dressing table, the top is just a surface, and along a single side are some shelves. Pretty cool, right? This will be a nice way to switch things up if you’re used to using the same sort of thing, where typically there are drawers up top. As the creator has evidenced in the pictures, this table will work nicely with any other furniture you may have in the room. Whether you want this to have a wall to itself, or sit alongside some bookshelves or dressers, the simple and plain swatches will allow that, no problem.
13. Beauty Room Floating Dressing Table
Check Out This CC Ooh, a floating dressing table! Magic! Well, not really. It’s just wall mounted. But it’s still pretty awesome since it’s the only one on this list with such a design! You can build your Sim a stall just for doing their makeup, and it will look fantastic. There are some other items optional here that work great for modern dressing tables, like a ring light. If it’s just the table you’re after, then it’s all good. You’ll have plenty of room for customization with this one too. From what mirror you’d like to use on the wall, to how cluttered (or not) the surface is, it’s all up to you.
14. Social Distancing Desk and Vanity Set
Check Out This CC You may get tired of your Sim’s rooms being so filled with furniture. Sometimes it can really seem junky, like it’s just from one wall to the other with no rhyme or reason. Well thanks to this creator, those will be worries of the past. This sleek design combines both a desk and vanity. Just place it as you please and voila, your Sim’s room will look nicer, but also in a way that’s functional! There are separate pieces here too, like counters, so you can utilize them to fit your Sim’s needs as only you know how.
15. Vanity Table Recolor
Check Out This CC To finish off this list, we have a simple recolor. Maybe you already like the vanity table that came with Vintage Glamor Stuff well enough, but would like some more colors. I can relate. This Simmer has one and done it, adding ten new swatches. There are some lovely shades of pink, bold blues, earthy greens, and some really fun yellow tones, as well as a simple white. With colors like that, you should be able to find one to match plenty of other furniture, too! And the vanity table will no longer have to stick out if you don’t want it to.
