Whereas The Sims 4 is meant to be an escape from stress and anxiety, Dark Souls is the contrary. While also an escape, the game subjects the player to severe anxiety as they fight for their lives against hordes of enemies and colossal bosses who’ll wipe the floor with them if they so much as blink. Still, gamers love the two. And bringing them together could be a dream come true – or a nightmare, depending on how you think about it. Let’s take a look at some of the best ways we can bring the fire and darkness of Dark Souls into The Sims 4.
1. Functional Bonfire Mod
Check Out This Mod Dark Soul’s most characteristic symbol is the humble bonfire – a place of respite where lost souls can gather their thoughts, organize their inventory, and restart their adventuring after an unfortunate death at the hands of a demon. Campfires already exist in The Sims 4 – but they’re nothing like these functional Dark Souls bonfires by FakePikachu, complete with the burning hot sword within the flames. It’s here that hollow, cursed, and unkindled Sims can gather around to tell stories of their somber adventures as they stare into the flames and maybe even roast some marshmallows (or moss clumps).
2. Knight Artorias Armor Set
Check Out This CC Introduced in the Artorias of the Abyss DLC for the original Dark Souls, Artorias the Abysswalker is one of the most prominent and bad-ass characters in Souls lore – and one of the most challenging bosses. Even though Artorias and his wolf Sif gave most of us such a hard time in their respective boss fights, the two are some of the more tragic and romantic characters in the series. Making a dog that looks like Sif shouldn’t be too hard. But you’ll have a much easier time recreating Sir Artorias with this armor conversion by creator Lady of Cinder. I’m sure the knight will like Granite Falls a lot more than the corrupted Oolacile.
3. Crow Demon Ornifex Set
Check Out This CC Artorias and most other Dark Souls characters are warriors. And what is a warrior without a monster to fight? Hailing from the Painted World of Ariamis comes the Crow Demon, a disturbing creature that combines shapely female legs with the body of a crow. In other words, pure nightmare fuel. The model was actually adapted by Lady of Cinder from Dark Souls 2, where a friendly Crow Demon called Ornifex works as a blacksmith dealing in boss weapons. I’m sure a part-time job as a Manual Laborer would suit her, though I’d love to see a Crow Demon Politician for sure.
4. Lace Veil
Check Out This CC Your Dark Souls characters need company, but it doesn’t have to be all demons and warriors. Just dress someone up in an appropriately dark and gothic outfit and they’ll fit right in. This Lace Veil by creator Karzalee is just what you’d find covering the faces of noble ladies of Lordran, Drangleic, and Lothric. It’s dark but fashionable and will give any Sim a bit of a macabre allure. In addition, you might want to try out this Souls Hair add-on by Leahlillith. It has just the right amount of volume and pomp for a demonic femme.
5. Dark Soul Eyes For TS4
Check Out This CC The eyes are the window to the soul. Considering most characters in Dark Souls have lost varying amounts of their soul and humanity, it would be weird if their eyes didn’t reflect that. These Dark Soul Eyes by RemusSirion can help your characters look somber and hollow, with a darker sclera and deep-yet-somewhat magical irises in 22 unique colors.
6. Dark Souls Mansion Lot
Check Out This Lot A bonfire is a great place for Dark Souls characters to gather and have fun (as much fun as you can have while cursed). But if you’re serious about plunging The Sims 4 into the darkness, you’ll need a larger place to house your hollow Sims. It’s a matter of time before someone tries to re-create the wonderfully inter-connected Kingdom of Lordran in TS4… but until then, you’ll have to make do with this fantastic Dark Soul mansion by TanitasSims. It’s a pre-built lot with a ton of room to spare. The architecture and décor perfectly capture the dark appeal of the series. Plus the colors are simply spot-on, and the addition of several scary monster statues throughout the premises is the icing on the cake.
7. Sister Friede Outfit
Check Out This CC There are many interesting characters in Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel, but Sister Friede is by far my favorite. There’s something about this solemn, veiled lady that lights a bonfire in my heart. In the game, she’s nothing if not tenacious. She’ll come back from the brink of death two times in a row as you fight her, trying to protect the Painted World of Ariandel, even though she’s partly responsible for the rot that consumes it. It takes a lot of courage to turn away from the fire in Dark Souls. Hopefully she’ll have a happier life in The Sims 4 thanks to this CC set by creator Kaguya.
8. Dark Witch Set
Check Out This CC If you’re looking for something really classy and dark, you’ll love Kaguya’s amazing Dark Witch CC Set. This outfit is inspired by the Black Witch armor set introduced in The Ringed City for Dark Souls 3. It’s said to have belonged to a witch who fell in love with a would-be victim – Alva the Wayfarer – who we find guarding her corpse as a Dark Spirit. That’s some Dark Souls romance if I’ve ever seen it! It’s a very delicate and elegant set, fit for any practitioner of the dark arts.
9. Yuria of Londor Set
Check Out This CC Yuria of Londor is easily the coolest female warrior in the entirety of Dark Souls lore. This epic swordswoman is said to have claimed over a hundred lives with her blade. Looking at her, it’s hard not to feel apprehensive about approaching – but it’s also irresistible. Humans will always admire greatness – even after being cursed. This will look wonderful on any female Sim, with or without the helmet.
10. Captain Yorshka Set
Check Out This CC Few things have endured the passing of time in the world of Dark Souls. One of them is the Blade of the Dark Moon covenant, which serves the Dark Sun Gwyndolin and enacts justice in their name. In Dark Souls 3, the covenant is headed by Company Captain Yorshka – a mysterious and delicate-looking woman who claims to be the daughter of Gwyn and younger sister of Gwyndolin. This set by Kaguya-Fox includes everything a female Sim would need to pass for Yorshka – including the unexplained dragon’s tail we see coiled around her in the game. It’s a beautiful and ethereal outfit that’ll shine like a ray of light among the darkness of all the other CC in this list.
